Mr.

Voting is not only my RIGHT but my RESPONSIBILITY as a citizen of this great country.
I have no right to ask for liberties if I don’t excercise and fulfil my responsibilities.
We will all get affected by the type of Government we get…so please vote and vote for honest, law abiding candidates.

to make my voice heard

I will vote because I am physically and mentally able to make a choice and get to the polling station. I want to make my voice heard and to have it count. I want to help create the type of world that I want to live in. I don’t want my little nephews to grow up wondering why my generation was so apathetic to let the status quo continue.

Because I’m a woman!

My grandmother had to fight for her right to vote as a woman in Canada. I will never take my right to vote for granted after hearing my grandmother’s stories, after learning all the ridicule, hardship, and even imprisonment that the suffragettes had to endure in order to win women the right to vote. And, guess what? It wasn’t all that long ago. Women only got the right to vote in Canada in 1919, less than 100 years ago.

It’s our future

I am voting because I care not only what happens in the next four years, but what happens after that. I care about the legacy we leave our kids. I vote because I want a country we can be proud of, a clean environment we can all enjoy, and a government we can afford.

Because its important to influence the direction of the country

As I write this, my 18-year old daughter is engaged in an on-line debate with her friends about government policy — deficit spending, election promises, budgets, employment, health spending, etc. I’m super-proud that there is a new generation of politically aware young Canadians about to vote for the first time.

sylvie lemieux

I vote because this country is worth it…for my children, for my neighbours’ children, for the children of the world. I vote because the multinational corporations are abusing our resources and our health. If we don’t stop them now through a smart Government there will be no legacy.

Healthy Food!

I’m voting to share my opinion on healthy, sustainable food – for a Party and local candidate that believes in making our government consider how everyone is eating every day and that we have food and farming that values sustainability and health.

Broken Windows

There is a “Broken Windows” theory of crime, which states that neighbourhoods that are allowed to fall into disrepair become magnets for crime, for those who would commit crimes believe that no one cares about the neighbourhood.

There is also a “Broken Windows” theory of democracy, meaning that those democracies where the electorate is not engaged, don’t care about policies, don’t care about candidates, and give up on voting become magnets for political corruption, for those who don’t care about the best interest of our country become those who drive it.

If you care about your country, and you care about your democracy, you must get re-engaged, you must come back and take action.

Vote.

I am voting because I can.

I am voting because I can. Millions of people around the world would give anything for this privilege, don’t take it for granted!

I am voting because I am an eternal optimist!

I am voting because I believe that my vote will make a small, but significant difference. Seriously. If every single person in the country felt the same way – watch out!
